Is Water Based Printing Right For You?

When it comes to printing, most printers reach a point where they are trying to decide between plastisol ink and water based ink. Water based ink may or may not be for you, but we hope the blog below will make it easier for you to decide.

What is Water Based Ink?

Water based ink is an ink which uses water as a solvent base to carry the pigment. There are a few different types of water based inks, such as RFU and HSA. RFU (Ready For Use) water based ink comes pre-mixed. These can be printed right out of the bucket onto lighter fabrics, or you can use a white or discharge under base to achieve more vibrant prints on dark garments. HSA water based inks (High Solid Acrylic) have a thickening binder that makes the formula more like a plastisol based ink. These inks can easily stretch and stack on each other, which makes HSA inks great for complex printing. At Ryonet, we carry Green Galaxy HSA water based inks.
